THIRD Division Zeals FC will take a narrow one-goal lead into their second leg clash of the Spring Cup at second division Bratton, thanks to their 6-5 victory on home soil.

However things could have been a lot better for Jason Carter's side, who were three goals up inside 10 minutes and, having led 5-1 and 6-2, they will be kicking themselves if they fail to capture a quarter-final spot.

Jose Gualda put Zeals ahead, John Fenwick doubled the home team's advantage before a second from Gualda put them 3-0 up.

Richard Wyatt pulled a goal back for Bratton but at the break it looked as if it would be little more than a consolation as two more goals from Gualda not only took his tally to four but should have put the tie to bed.

Bratton pulled a goal back through Liam Griffiths early in the second half only for them to undo their promising start when Jamie Weeks regained a four-goal cushion for the hosts when he made it 6-2.

With Zeals coasting to victory they were stunned by a Bratton fightback which was sparked by Wyatt, who got his team back in the tie when he scored from the penalty spot after Dave Jones had been brought down.

A late two-goal blast from Ryan Mead got Bratton to within one goal but they were unable to conjure up that all-important sixth goal as Zeals held on to claim victory.

Holt 1 Trowbridge Town Reserves 2

SECOND Division Trowbridge Town Reserves, who are among the favourites for Spring Cup glory, will take a narrow one-goal advantage into their second leg clash against third division leaders Holt, who will fancy their chances of causing as upset when the teams next meet.

Holt opened the scoring through Matthew Hayward but they were unable to keep their lead as Dan Barnett got Trowbridge on level terms before half time.

A goal from substitute Ben Winn who scored within a couple of minutes in coming of the bench won it for Trowbridge.

MATCH OFF: Trowbridge Rangers v The Lamb Reserves.
