A NEW 300-capacity nightclub is due to open in the town centre on Easter bank holiday weekend.

Medina, in Theatre Square, will focus on older clubbers, and is owned and funded by the adjacent Foxies lap dancing club.

But David Broome, owner of Foxies, said the two venues will be two separate entities.

“There is a dividing wall between the two venues, and there will be separate management so the identities are totally different,” he said. “I have been a licensee for 14 years now so we have got a good idea of where we want to go with this.”

The club will have a 6am licence and will open from 10pm on Friday and Saturday evenings. David said: “I think there is a possibility of better trade in the area with the new development at the old college site, and we may be able to benefit from that.”

“We are also surrounded by places like the MECA and Rudi’s, so the demand is there. We will be different because we will open later than them and it will be a smaller nightclub.”

Places in Swindon right now are limited as to where to go at night. We will not open until 10pm, and will limit opening to Friday and Saturday night, and Bank Holiday Sundays.”
