The Crown Centre in Devizes is appealing for more people to join, boosting its coffers, as a new lift will cost thousands of pounds.
A new lift is in the process of being fitted after the previous lift broke down. It could cost up to £16,000.
The centre, in St John’s Street, is open for refreshments and lunches in the week.
Committee member Bridget Chatfield said: “The lift was about 15 years old or more and it broke down so the committee felt it was important to replace it.”
It is holding an open morning on April 5 to encourage volunteers.
