POLICE are closing in on the culprits responsible for the theft of a teenager’s bicycle, which he had built towards his silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Jak Albans, 15, a pupil at Isambard Community School, had left his bicycle unattended for no more than five minutes last Wednesday, when it was taken from an address in Bergman Close, Abbey Meads.

Following a raft of posts on social media with pictures of the custom bike, Jak’s mum, Rachael, 47, has been given a tip-off as to where the bike may be and handed the information over to Wiltshire Police.

“I had a message in the middle of the night on Sunday with somebody saying they had seen it in the town centre at the weekend,” she said.

“I did put on Facebook there would be a reward for any information leading to the return of the bike.

“The police have now received this information and I think they’re following this up. They should have a name and address for who has it.”

The bike is red and its only markings are letters spelling Jak’s name on the frame.
