Pupils at Bishops Cannings Primary School helped to launch a rocket as part of National Science and Engineering Week.
On Monday John Marshall from Science Boffins ran an assembly followed by workshops for each class.
The topic was state of matter and he explained about liquids, solids and gases. He did experiments including showing how electricity flows.
The pupils were taught about dry ice and were delighted that they could eat the ice cream they made from it.
The culmination of the day was a rocket launch in the playground.
School governor Tracey Purvis, who is a scientist, said: “The kids loved it. It was a fantastic day and the children were buzzing and amazed at the experiments.”
