Pupils and staff at Kingdown School, Warminster, held the first of three bake-off competitions in aid of young carers charity Spurgeons on Monday, with all the cakes entered going on sale after the judging.

Twickenham House is hosting The Kingdown Bake Off for three consecutive Mondays and the first one saw staff and pupils enter their version of a Victoria sponge.

A winner, second and third will be chosen each week, with an overall champion at the end.

Each week has a different theme, with chocolate brownies and Easter cake the next challenges.

The winner of the first bake-off was Daisee-Louise Viney, 12.

Student Nancy Frostick, one of the organisers, said: “We wanted a charity that had affected people in the house and we have pupils who are young carers.”
