SECOND Division sides Trowbridge Town Reserves and Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves are the first two teams through to the semi-finals of this season’s EJ Shanley & Sons-sponsored Spring Cup after victories over respective third division opponents Polenez Westbury and Zeals.

Dave Jenkins' Trowbridge Town side progressed to the last four thanks to a 3-0 success over a Polenez side who made the Woodmarsh based side work extra hard for their victory.

Dan Barnett’s goal for the Bees separated the teams at the break. Craig Neate doubled the home team's lead and a second from Barnett booked them a semi-final place against Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves in April.

Zeals FC 1 Trowbridge Wanderers 4

A 4-1 VICTORY for Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves away at Zeals FC saw them set up a semi-final meeting with local rivals Trowbridge Town Reserves.

Wanderers had the chance to take an early lead but Steve Jackson saw his penalty saved after Joe Walker had been fouled. Wanderers eventually took the lead through Will Bayley and led 1-0 at the interval.

The second period saw Wanderers fly out of the traps and they doubled their advantage courtesy of Nick James who after a superb run from left back produced a composed finish to make it 2-0.

Bayley added his second and Wanderers third before Cliff Sakyi made it 4-0 with a powerful header from a Will Bayley corner.

James Weeks scored a late consolation for Zeals.

Bradford United Reserves 1 (1) United FC 1 (5)

THIRD Division United FC, who took a healthy 4-0 advantage into their Spring Cup first round second leg tie away to second division Bradford United Reserves, finished the job they had started eight days earlier with a 1-1 draw at Poulton which gave them a 5-1 aggregate victory and booked their place in the quarter finals where they will meet second division champions Lacock.

David Biaey scored United’s first-half effort which was cancelled out by Kieran Powell.

United’s Shavon Allen had plenty of chances to add his sides tally but was woeful in front of goal but luckily for the striker the damage was already done in the first leg as United progressed to the last eight.
