THE Victoria promises genre-bending music tomorrow night.
Vienna Ditto, Super Squarecloud and Clementines make up the bill for the latest Songs of Praise at the Old Town pub and music venue.
Songs of Praise is run twice-monthly by local promoters Dave Franklin - the Adver’s live music columnist - and Ed Dyer.
The music starts at about 9pm, with the doors open at 8.30pm and entry by donation.
Ed said: “These are three bands who are starting to make waves in the national music scene, with airplay and sessions for major national BBC radio, festival appearances and acres of press coverage, and seem destined for bigger things.
“Leading the charge for the local scene are Super Squarecloud. Impossible to pigeonhole, their blend of rock, jazz, electronica, folk, classical, hip-hop, pop and multiple sub-genres in between is a truly unique sound.”
Oxford band Vienna Ditto have been described by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens as: “Portishead doing a Tarantino Soundtrack.”
Their music is billed as a blend of dirty Chicago blues, dark psychedelia and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Broadcast credits include a Maida Vale session for Tom Robinson on BBC6.
Wiltshire band Clementines are new but already are veterans of the underground music scene, having first become known as lo-fi pop group Crash & The Coots.
