Students at Lavington School learned about the dangers of riding mopeds.

A number of pupils have mopeds as they can start riding them aged 16 so the school invited in experts to educate them.

About 30 Year 11 pupils were taught general road awareness, to wear appropriate clothing and stopping distances, as well as the dangers of drinking and driving.

Geoff Gregor, a director of Road Risk Strategies which delivered the session, said: “Demonstrating the stopping distance when you are driving at 30mph blew them away. All of them stood within 30 feet and they all would have been knocked down. We also brought goggles that give the same effect as if you were over the drink-drive limit.”

It was the first time moped safety training had been carried out at the school in Market Lavington.
