A Wiltshire Police team have been running to raise funds in memory of colleague PC Nicola Hughes who was murdered in Manchester in 2012.

The group of 29 have been taking part in Run to Remember which has been organised by PC Hughes’ dad Bryn. The challenge, which started in December, has seen 1,800 officers across the country running 250 miles over 125 days.

The fundraiser is in aid of Care of Police Survivors, North West Police Benevolent Fund and Victim Support. The event finishes today with a two mile run in Manchester which TDC Sara Robert, based at Melksham Police Station, will be competing in.

She said: “I’m flying the flag for Wiltshire and I’m really happy to raise funds. The organisers have asked everyone taking part to raise £100 and I’ve raised £550 so far which I’m very pleased with.”

PC Hughes, 23, and colleague PC Fiona Bone, 32, were killed by Dale Cregan in Manchester, after he made a hoax 999 call. To sponsor the Wiltshire Police team visit www.pchughesnorthpolerun.co.uk/run-to-remember.html.
