Major disruption to services as railway works begin

FAMILIES making the most of the Easter break and regular commuters will face huge disruption and longer journeys between Swindon and Kemble as improvement work starts up again.
The work is all part of the £45m project to re-double the track before the electrification of the Great Western Main Line.
The latest procedures are being carried out after Network Rail decided to put back the entire scheme by four months to August, in February when flooding played havoc.
As a result, passengers have been told to expect altered timetables and replacement bus services throughout the holiday period in April.
First Great Western has said passengers’ tickets may be used with other rail operators, should they choose to avoid the disruption.
