THE town centre is all set to celebrate St George’s Day on 23 April as Swindon’s 20ft-high figure of England’s Patron Saint will proudly parade through the town centre to commemorate the Feast of St. George.

After it has been blessed by a local reverend, the giant statue will lead a procession made up of 100 school children from Regent Street, along Canal Walk, and finally into Wharf Green.

Once in Wharf Green the children will be divided into four groups, where they will be participating in different activities.

The four stations will be divided up into arts and crafts, sport, dance and a lunch station.

No Added Sugar will be demonstrating and then making dragons with the children, Swindon Leisure services will be offering a sport orientated activity zone and Swindon Dance and Folk Dance Remixed Group will be offering May Pole dancing with a twist as a session and then performing to the children to finish the day.

The procession will start at 11am from the Cenotaph at the top of Regent Street and the events will come to a close at 2pm.
