SEMINGTON Magpies stood in the way of Westbury United Reserves finishing as Division One runners-up.

Westbury had to beat Ricky King’s side for a second time this season, but failure to win for Jason Edwards side would hand Tony Stevens' top-flight first timers The Lamb second spot.

Although Westbury would have had a few nerves going into the came they breezed through the 90 minutes to claim a 7-0 win and edge out Lamb to second place by one point.

Gary Tugwell gave Westbury the lead, Derek Wheeler double their advantage and the Meadow Lane side had the game won by the break when Jack Hayward made it 3-0.

A second from Wheeler extended Westbury’s lead to 4-0.

Conner McKay added number five before Gary Tugwell landed his second of the afternoon to make it 6-0.

Jack Sully completed the scoring for the hosts, who take on Lacock FC in the final of the Knock Out and A&B Cup over the next few weeks.

Freshford United 3 North Bradley 4

ON THE day Chris Birleson’s Freshford United were presented with the Division One’s winners trophy and mementoes by league chairman Roly Hill, the villagers were in a partying mood at Brown’s Park for their game with North Bradley.

However it was Chris Carr’s Bradley side who were the party poppers as they beat Freshford, who started the season with a 3-2 defeat at home to Westbury Reserves, 4-3 to leave their celebrations a little flat.

It looked as if it was going to be business as usual for the champions once Ricky Trott had given them a half-time lead, but Freshford were up against a determined Bradley side who gave a season’s debut to Craig Brown and called up Rob Elliott to play in goal.

Tthe latter was to prove to be Bradley’s hero as he produced a string of great saves late in the game to preserve his team's lead after they had Paul Ranger sent off.

Tim Richards got Bradley back on level terms before Dean Ranger and a second from Richards put Bradley 3-1 up.

Elliott Carris-Smith reduced the arrears for Freshford only for Ryan Smith to hand Bradley back their two goal cushion.

Nick Ross kept Freshford in the game and although they had Bradley under the cosh as they serched for and equaliser they couldn’t find a way past the impressive Elliott, who produced a number of incredible stops.
