Dyson's £250m expansion plans will be discussed at Malmesbury Town Council's planning and environmental issues committee tonight at 7pm.

There will be a presentation by representatives of Dyson, the town's biggest employer, and all are welcome at the public meeting.

During the next 20 years the firm, known for its innovative vacuum cleaners and other products, could employ 3,000 more engineers if its plans get the go-ahead.

Measures to alleviate traffic congestion and parking problems in Malmesbury were included in its outline plans submitted to Wiltshire Council in March.

Dyson has confirmed that, if approved, it would create a new technology campus based in Malmesbury, which would include research and development laboratories split over four buildings in the town.

The expansion would be the largest in the company’s 20-year history.

Dyson's application is the first item planning issue to be addressed and is for change of use of agriculture to employment land, development of commercial and ancillary buildings.
