Rula Lenska enjoys display of colourful leopards at Keevil

This Is Wiltshire: Joanna May and Rula Lenska at Ms May’s latest art exhibition Joanna May and Rula Lenska at Ms May’s latest art exhibition

The latest exhibition by Keevil artist Joanna May at her home was attended by more than 90 art lovers.

A third of her original art works sold, as well as original drawings and many prints from her new work.

A couple of paintings were a new style for Ms May, who used writing to create shading, repeating words to describe a hare – a frequent motif in her work – over and over again in the painting.

Another painting called Roar, repeating that word, was inspired by the Katy Perry song of the same name.

Actress Rula Lenska, a close friend of Ms May’s, was present at the exhibition in the morning and the hare was one of her favourites.

Ms May’s iconic Leopards also sold well, with the Snow Leopard having two clients bidding for the original. The new Red Leopard and Black Jaguar also inspired a lot of competition.

Guest speaker Paul Martin, from BBC’s Flog It!, talked about the investment in good contemporary art, or furniture either antique or contemporary.

Also present was Wing Commander Tal Lambert, chairman of the charity Soldiering On. The following weekend the painting Majesty sold at a prestigious Soldiering On charity event held at the Park Plaza Westminster, making £5,000 for Ms May and several thousand for the charity.

Ms May said: “It was a beautiful sunny day and the exhibition flowed through to the garden, with Rachel Ducker’s joyous wire figures evolving from the lawn and on the patio, among my coloured leopards, zebras and hares.”

I'm disappointed now. I read the title of this as leotards, not leopards :(
