IN his first individual competition of the summer Trowbridge international sprinter Danny Talbot shot straight to the top of the UK 200m outdoor rankings.
The 22-year-old clocked 20.79secs at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, in Florida, the quickest time by a British sprinter at the meeting.
Only British indoor champion Chris Clark has gone quicker this year with a 20.68secs in February.
Bowerhill’s Joe Hutchinson scored his second best total in the decathlon at the ACC Championships in America.
The 21-year-old Team Bath AC member, a student at North Carolina University, reached 6,862 points for the 10-discipline event to give him fourth place, compared to victory in a personal best 7,103 last year.
Hutchinson’s best results came in the throws with a personal best of 13.84 in the shot, then a significant improvement of just over a metre in the javelin with 47.39m.
He also clocked a quick 11.18secs in the 100m and was only 0.01secs outside his personal best in the 100 hurdles with 14.78secs.
