Pewsey Carnival gave away almost £10,000 to charity at an annual presentation on Friday.
Representatives from the carnival’s nominated charities, village halls, churches, and other organisations across the Pewsey district gathered in the Bouverie Hall along with trophy winners and carnival members for the special event.
The key beneficiary was Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which received £1,500. Prospect Hospice and Naomi House Hospice were each awarded £1,000.
The Luce Cup, for best decorated garden in Carnival 2013 was awarded to Mark and Alexandra Warburg, of High Street, nominated by former president Richard Giles.
In other awards: Di Stevens, who runs Cossor’s Shop, was given the President’s Cup; Richard Fleming, who is on the treasury team and has helped with the new company structure, was presented with the Len Goddard Cup; and the Fred Philips Cup went to treasurer Tim Thompson.
Carnival chairman Maurice Bulmer said: “People here tonight have done a tremendous amount to make the carnival what it is.
“I’d like to thank you for the efforts you’ve put in and the success you’ve made of carnival.”
