SWINDON Spitfires reserves moved up to second spot in the Wiltshire League with a convincing 8-0 win over Highworth Town.

After being 6-0 up at half-time, Spitfires had to work harder in the second half, but any chances Highworth created were fluffed.

Katie Wadey led the way with a hat-trick, while Morgan Whitaker bagged a brace and there were further goals from Jody Nicholls, Megan Greening and Diane George.

Spitfires’ under 14s made it through to the Oxford Girls League Cup Final with a 2-0 win over Benson United.

Two goals from Katie Donnovan and Lucy Goodright in the first half were enough to put Spitfires through, meaning the second half penalty miss by Ellie Scott wasn’t crucial. They now face Kidlington in next month’s final.

The under 17s fell at their final hurdle, losing 3-1 at Moretonville.

After defending into the wind on a heavy pitch for the first half, Spitfires conceded three in the second period to Chloe Amies, Jess Jordan and Kerrie Cope, before Sarah Uzzell pulled one back for Spitfires 10 minutes from time.

The under 12s ended their campaign with an 8-5 defeat to Melksham Town with Kimberley Jackson (3), Amelia Sharp, and Georgia Gillie netting for the home side.
