NILE Ranger has been arrested by Wiltshire Police on suspicion of criminal damage and common assault after questioning at Gablecross station in Swindon this afternoon.

Ranger was called in for questioning after CCTV footage emerged over the weekend, which shows a man punching a woman three times and kicking a door down at a property in Gordon Gardens.

Police have also confirmed the woman in the video has been identified and spoken with by officers.

Ranger will remain in custody overnight, after which he will either be charged or released.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Wiltshire Police can confirm that a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and common assault.

“Wiltshire Police was contacted on April 23rd 2014 by a building management company to report criminal damage at a residential address in Gordon Gardens, Swindon.

“During the course of enquiries, Wiltshire Police were supplied with CCTV footage of the incident.

“Police have since been making enquiries to locate the suspect.

“As a result a man, aged 23, from Gordon Gardens in Swindon attended Gablecross police station in Swindon today and was arrested.

“He remains in police custody at this time.

“Wiltshire Police can also confirm that we have identified the woman we wanted to speak to in connection with this incident and have spoken with her.

“We would like to thank the media and the public for their help in this matter.”
