In a mixture of glorious sunshine and some heavy rain, the Easter weekend brought fun to many families as they took part in egg hunts.

Busy the Bee was buzzing around helping youngsters find clues at the Easter egg hunt held in the gardens of the Farmhouse Inn, Southwick, on Easter Monday.

Organiser Janet Harris said: ”We had yellow wallplugs for small prizes with larger grey plugs for the bigger eggs and our resident life-sized bee was a favourite with the children, helping them find clues.

“With nearly 30 children taking part it was a fun afternoon.”

The idea was adopted from New Zealand and saw dozens of youngsters dashing around to find clues to exchange for the treats.

Despite the atrocious Easter Sunday afternoon weather more than 30 people including adults and children braved the elements to take part in the annual Friends of Biss Meadows Country Park Easter Egg Treasure Trail, and successfully solved all the cryptic clues.

The winner of a Thorntons Continental Easter Egg prize draw, donated by Tesco, was Thomas Anstead of Hilperton.

Families in Melksham were treated to an ‘eggs-cellent’ Good Friday at a fun day at Leekes. The store on Beanacre Road held an egg-citing range of activities and offers, welcoming over 3,000 children and adults.

Matt Gelder, the store’s manager, said: “It was great fun and we were really delighted with how many locals turned up. Being a family-owned business ourselves we know how important it is to be involved with the community and are really happy."
