FUNDRAISER Peter Jenkins presented two lucky students from Kingsdown School prizes for designing a logo for his walk around the world.

The 53-year-old from Oakhurst is taking on a 15,500 mile walk around the world in an endurance test which is expected to last about four years.

This week he presented the two Year 9 students who had designed a logo for his walk with £50 vouchers.

He said: “The reason I asked children to design it is because children have a very different view of the world compared to adults. “All the designs were simple and you knew instantly what it meant, which is exactly what I was looking for.

“The whole of the Year 9 design and technology class took part in the competition and I spoke with the teachers at the school and chose two of the designs which we then merged together.”

Peter plans to embark on his epic walk from April next year, leaving his job as a renewable energy consultant to try and raise money for Cancer Research UK and Unicef.

He said: “I’ve always wanted to do something which really challenges me as a human being and this seemed like the right way to do it.”
