Marlborough is getting ready for another sparkling weekend of music as the line-up for this year’s jazz festival is announced.

The three-day festival takes place from July 18 to 20 with artists booked from all around the world including Mauritius, Russia and Greece.

Music will blare from every pub in town and with artist such as Big Man Clayton, Chris Jagger and the Red Stripe Band, organisers say that the carnival atmosphere will last all weekend.

Organiser Nick Fogg said: “‘We seem to be recession-proof. We have never had so many sensational acts on the bill.

“To see each band individually would cost hundreds of pounds.”

Mr Fogg expects this year’s festival to be the best yet with an amazing line-up of new and returning entertainers, including Britain’s top jazz singer Clare Teal and last year’s festival opener Georgie Fame.

Among the newcomers taking to the stage is A J Brown who Clare Teal described as a up coming star.

Stella jazz man Darius Brubeck will be putting in an appearance along with ex-Chris Barber drummer Sticky Wicket who is returning with his Swing Orchestra.

Mr Fogg said: “The band Moonlight Saving Time, winner of the 2013 Brewin Dolphin Award for The Best Newcomer, will return. This indicates the festival’s ability to build enduring contacts with rising artists.”

Also performing are Brataslava Swing Orchestra, the Budapest Ragtime Band, Daryl Sherman, New Orleans’ top clarinet player Evan Christopher, Australia’s premier jazz artist Albare, father and son Leonid and Nikolai Vintskevitch and the MonaLisa Twins.

Other highlights include Sarah Gillespie, who is bringing her new show based on the legend of Bessie Smith to the African Bandstand, Pete Allen, Bruce Adams, Richard Bryant, Alex Dankworth, Dave Green, John Crittenson, Ian Bateman, Geoff Eales, Henry Lowther, Clark Tracey, Steve Kershaw, Steve Waterman, Roy Williams and Bobby Wellins.
