MELKSHAM Town had to be content with a seventh-placed finish in the Toolstation League Premier Division as they were defeated 3-2 by Devon's Buckland Athletic in their final match of the season at The Conigre on Saturday.
The Wiltshire Senior Cup winners, bottom after seven matches, could have climbed into the top five with a 3-0 victory and took the lead on eight minutes when Ben Thomson crossed and Dan Kovacs headed home.
Two minutes later, the visitors were level when Mike Booth was unmarked to fire home the equaliser.
Just after the half hour mark, Booth rifled home from long-range to give Buckland the lead, but Melksham squared matters ten minutes after half time as Kovacs capitalised on a defensive error.
Booth though was not finished and, 20 minutes from time, was again unmarked to head home the winner.
Hotshot striker Sam Jordan capped a memorable season for himself and Toolstation League First Division champions Bradford Town as his hat-trick downed Wellington 3-0 in their final match.
Jordan took his tally for the season to an astonishing 77 goals with the treble, as Paul Shanley's men smashed through the 100-point barrier from their 42 matches.
