Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a man in Chippenham.

The incident took place on Tuesday, April 29, in Wood Lane between 2pm-3pm.

The victim, a 44-year-old man from Calne, was walking with a woman in Wood Lane, near Bakehouse Close, when he was approached by a man and assaulted.

The victim was punched and kicked, sustaining cuts and bruises, before the offender ran down an alley off Wood Lane.

Detective Constable Mark Hutchinson said: "The incident lasted for a few minutes and it is likely that there were people in the area who would have seen the assault.

"Although this type of crime is not common in the Chippenham area, the impact on the victims can be significant.

"I would like to appeal to the public to come forward with any information about this assault."

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact DC Mark Hutchinson at Melksham CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
