A SPATE of vandalism in Broadgreen caused thousands of pounds worth of damage when 10 vehicles were targeted over-night on Friday.

Residents woke up to find their cars and vans had suffered broken wing mirrors and long scratches. Wiltshire Police is investigating the incidents in Graham Street and other nearby streets, which took place between midnight on Friday and Saturday at 7am.

Jazz Singh, who has lived in Graham Street for 13 years, was one of the first to discover the damage and reported the incident to the police. The right electric wing mirror of his Ford Fiesta was smashed off.

It has been partially fixed but it will cost around £140 to get it working properly again. Jazz said: “I was leaving for work at around 6.30am and saw what had happened to my car and noticed that loads of other cars had been done too. There were four cars parked at the end of the street which had been done so I picked up the mirrors and put them on top of the cars.

“I’m not happy at all about this. That is money which I wasn’t planning on paying out and could have gone towards my bills. “This is not the first time something like this has happened in this street, there was something similar, which happened a few years back.

“This area is going from bad to worse and I hope that the police do something about it.”

The police believe the offences in Broadgreen are all connected and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC Luke Atkinson, Broad-green community beat manager, said: “These appear to be mindless, random acts of criminal damage mainly focused around the Graham Street area of Broadgreen with numerous vehicles having wing mirrors kicked off as well as other damage caused to them.

“If you witnessed anything which could be linked to these incidents no matter how insignificant, then please contact Wiltshire Police.”
