Comedian Jenny Eclair, historian David Starkey, former SAS soldier Andy McNab and Scots poet Liz Lochhead are among the top acts headed for Devizes next month.

Devizes Festival runs from June 4-22 and the brochure featuring full details of events has been published.

Jenny Eclair will get things off to an hilarious start on Wednesday, June 4, at the Corn Exchange with her touring show Eclairious.

On Saturday, June 7, Mr McNab will enthral his audience at the Corn Exchange will recollections of his career in the special services and as a writer.

Also that day, Anne Seba, the Duchess of Windsor’s biographer, will speak about the American socialite divorcee and her affair with Edward VIII.

Reformed drug smuggler Howard Marks will speak on his criminal career at the Corn Exchange on Thursday, June 19, while Dr David Starkey will talk about the Tudors at the Corn Exchange on Saturday, June 21.

There is also music for all tastes. The Sacconi Quartet plays at the town hall on Thursday, June 5, while The Orchestra of the Swan play at the Corn Exchange on Tuesday, June 17.

The free Devizes Festival Fringe includes lots of local talent in Showcase. It takes place at the Corn Exchange on Friday, June 13.

The festival box office will open at Devizes Books from Wednesday May 21 but Friends of the Festival have first bite at tickets.
