Eight employees from Calne business NCE Computer Group are launching a year-long fundraising campaign for Wiltshire Air Ambulance by jumping out of a plane.

Employees Sue Genever, Andrew Genever, Chloe Zebedee, Jon Woodward, Adriaan Louw, Hayley Davis, Alex Fraser and Steve Rains have bravely signed up for a sky diving challenge.

The jump is on June 8 at Old Sarum Airfield and they hope to raise £2,500 for the air ambulance, which can be at an incident anywhere in the county in 11 minutes.

It costs £700,000 a year to keep running, but in December 2014 this figure will rise to £2.5m as the charity will lose police funding.

Marketing executive Chloe Zebedee, 22, from Quemerford, Calne, has never done a sky dive before.

She said: “There’s a couple of people here who have had first-hand experience of the service so it’s close to home for people. I was very young when I had a horse riding accident. It jarred my back and my neck and put my pelvis out and they were uncertain of taking me in the land ambulance.”

Mr Genever, managing director for the company on Stanier Road, said: “With the charity’s 23-year partnership with Wiltshire Police coming to an end in December 2014 it is the perfect time for NCE to be supporting such a brilliant and worthy cause.

“They need help raising the funds to keep the aircraft in the air now more than ever.”

As well as the sky dive, staff members are running a tuck shop and Richard Morgans is running the Marlborough Downs Challenge.

Miss Zebedee said: “It’s nice to be doing it together and everyone has got into the fundraising because it’s so local.”
