Calne beauty queen Georgia Delaney is rounding up her fellow beauty queens to take part in Swindon’s Race for Life at Lydiard Park on Sunday, June 1.

Miss Delaney, of Bremhill View, is Miss Charity Heart and a finalist in the Miss UK Dreams competition, to take place in February next year.

The 23-year-old was inspired to take part in the race after seeing her fiancé’s auntie Sue Holmes, from Doncaster, win her battle against lymphoma last year.

She will run the 5km race in aid of Cancer Research alongside Jade Wickenden, 21, from Salisbury, who was Miss Swindon 2013/14.

The new Miss Swindon, Catissa Creighton, 22, from Royal Wootton Bassett, and Miss Wiltshire, Nicole Cox, 17, from Swindon, will join them on the day.

Miss Delaney, a full-time mum to two-year-old Henry and five-month-old Oscar said: “Seeing someone come through cancer and the difficult treatment required has inspired me to do my bit. Almost everyone knows someone who has been affected by this disease.”

Last year 3,648 women took part in Race for Life in Swindon and raised £225,000.
