Police teams searching remote fields and a pond near Ramsbury looking for clues into where Sian O’Callaghan was murdered did not find any new evidence over the weekend.

The boots of office worker Sian, 22, who was killed by mini-cab driver Christopher Halliwell, 50, of Nythe, were found by divers searching in Hilldrop Lane at the end of last week along with a shotgun.

Sian was murdered in 2011 after a night out in Old Town, Swindon.

The knife used in Sian’s killing has never been found while several of her belongings including her mobile phone, handbag and jewellery are still missing.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “The dive teams have been back in the pond yesterday and Saturday but there are no other finds to report. They will carry on with the search into this week.”

On Friday, Detective Chief Inspector Sean Memory said teams would be searching thoroughly to find everything they could and he could not rule out other bodies being found.

Specialist cadaver dog units trained in finding bodies, on loan from South Wales Police, have been at the Ramsbury site along with Avon and Somerset Police divers.

Both units are assisting a Wiltshire Police Major Investigation Team led by DCI Memory.
