LOUISE Hunt heads to the World Team Cup on the back of a second ITF Two Series doubles title of 2014, following victory in Israel.

The Wanborough-based Team GB athlete accompanied Sharon Walraven to a comfortable victory, recording some solace for losing at the semi-final stage of the singles tournament in the process.

Hunt and Walraven overcame the German second seeds Katharina Kruger, who knocked Hunt out in the singles, and Bianxca Osterer 6-0, 6-1 in the final to secure her second success on Israeli soil, having won the singles title at the same venue in 2012.

She expressed her delight afterwards, telling her official website: “This is the first time I have played with Sharon at this tournament, and I loved it. We really connected well as a pair on court and I really look forward to competing with her more in the future.

“Of course I am disappointed I lost to Kruger but in my quarter-final I beat (Charlotte) Famin, world number 14 who I have never beaten before, so that’s a good result for me”

Hunt made a fine start by seeing off Famin of France in her opening match. After a bye into the quarter-finals, the world number 18 battled back from a set down to defeat Famin, recently awarded a wildcard for Roland Garros, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 before losing out to Kruger in her semi.

Hunt dropped just one game en route to claiming the first set before the German fought back to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Alongside Walraven, the British number three easily defeated Polina Shakirova of Russia and Turkey’s Busra Un to book their place in the final against Kruger and Osterer.
