Driver escapes with slight injuries after car flips over in Old Town
A 66-year-old man was taken to hospital yesterday after his car overturned on Okus Road shortly after midday.
The man had been driving his Volkswagen Passat along Okus Road at around 12.45pm when he struck a stationary vehicle and his car went flying into the air, coming to rest upside-down on its roof.
Fortunately there were no people in the car he hit, a Vauxhall Corsa, which had been parked in a bay along the side of the road.
The driver of the Passat, from the Swindon area, was taken to Great Western Hospital with injuries to his arm, which are not thought to be severe.
Police attended the scene until around 2pm while both vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to a single vehicle RTC at 12.45pm.
“The car has gone into a parked car and flipped over on to its roof. The 66-year-old male driver was taken to hospital with minor arm injuries.
“Both cars needed to be removed from the scene, and part of the road was blocked for around two hours but cars could still go past.”
