A man who assaulted a woman twice in a few days has been remanded in custody by a judge.

Dominick George assaulted the woman causing grievous bodily harm between Sunday April 27 and Wednesday April 30.

The 22-year-old then assaulted her again on Saturday May 3 as well as burgling a house and stealing a purse containing a bank card, a landline phone and a mobile.

Following the burglary on Dicketts Road, Corsham, he also stole £250 in cash belonging to Lloyds Bank.

He pleaded guilty to GBH, common assault, burglary and theft when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court by video link from Bristol prison on Friday.

George, of Camberwell, London, pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment between the April dates and prosecutors said they would not seek a trial on that charge.

Colin Meeke, for the Crown, said "I am satisfied that the matter that might form that charge are part and parcel of the GBH."

Alex Daymond, defending, asked for the case to be adjourned so a pre-sentence report could be carried out on his client.

Judge Tim Mousley QC said "You have pleaded guilty to very serious offences which will inevitably result in a long prison sentence."

He adjourned the case to Friday June 13 and remanded him in custody until then.
