People are being encouraged to have their say about a five-year plan for health care in Wiltshire.

The county’s Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has produced a draft strategic plan up until 2019.

Key principles of the plan is for people to take more responsibility for their own health and wellbeing, relying less on acute hospital care and instead for care to be provided at home or in the community.

Public meetings have been arranged. These are on Thursday, May 29 at Marlborough Town Hall from 9.30am to 11.30am; Thursday, June 10 at Warminster Civic Centre from 10am to 12noon; Wednesday, June 11 at Salisbury Guildhall from 6pm to 8pm and the Corn Exchange, Devizes, from 7pm to 9pm.

Wiltshire CCG is responsible for planning and paying for most NHS services in the county and is led by local GPs.

Dr Stephen Rowlands, chairman of Wiltshire CCG, said: “The next five years will be a period of change for health care services in Wiltshire.

"Our five-year plan is all about supporting people to live healthy, independent lives in their own homes and communities.

"We need to keep people out of hospital as much as possible and we will need people to take more responsibility for their own health and the health of others to help us do this.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in healthcare to come along to one of our public meetings if they want to understand what these changes will mean for them and their local NHS services.”
