Longfield residents avenged their defeat in a friendly football match against Trowbridge Neighbourhood Police Team last year by beating them 7-3.

The game, organised by Longfield Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, took place at Oasis Academy Longmeadow on May 26 and was the second time the residents have taken on police officers.

Last year’s game saw the police win with a 5-2 scoreline, but the residents got their own back this year. The game was followed by a barbecue.

Chairman of the residents’ association James McDonald said: “It was a really good day. The barbecue was great and we are grateful to Tesco for supplying the food.

“It’s a great way to bring the community together and everyone is keen to do it again.”
