THE FIRST combined Wyvern Theatre and Swindon Arts Centre’s programme will be landing through letterboxes this week.

Earlier this year, the Arts Centre became a sister venue of the Wyvern in a rearrangement of the borough’s entertainment and leisure venues.

Now, the autumn/winter season of events brochure has been released and there’s something for everybody.

The season includes a host of first-class dramas, all of which are adapted from novels: Sebastian Faulks’ Birdsong, Agatha Christie’s Black Coffee, and The Woman in Black, adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from the novel by Susan Hill.

Meanwhile magic can be found at both venues with performances from The Champions of Magic, Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee and Pete Firman.

“The Wyvern Theatre and Swindon Arts Centre are truly providing live entertainment for all this autumn. I am particularly proud of the range and breadth of our programme and look forward to sharing it with audiences,” said theatre director Derek Aldridge.

“From belly laughs to toe-tapping tunes, from poignant drama to fun for kids, from local dance schools to a full professional pantomime – and it is all packed into two well-loved local venues. I believe the merger of the two venues will have huge benefits for audiences and performers alike and the future of live theatre in Swindon is brighter than ever.”

There is fun for all the family from the zany and hilarious Aliens Love Underpants, everyone’s favourite little star Angelina Ballerina, a fabulous new show from Sooty and his TV partner Richard Caddell, plus this year’s magical pantomime adventure Dick Whittington starring Nigel Havers as King Rat.

A varied collection of comedians complete the line-up, including Joe Avati, Chris Ramsey, Omid Djalili, Henning Wehn, Jason Byrne, Jim Davidson, Dave Gorman, Cardinal Burns, Ross Noble, Mark Watson plus many more.

The Wyvern Theatre will also present a number of free activities throughout the season including a performance from the Military Wives at the Bandstand opposite the theatre, on July 1; a dazzling Danny La Rue dress on display from July 25 to 28; the theatre’s first-ever wedding fayre on September 7 and, following the success of last year’s event, another Family Fun Day on November 1.
