Pupils at the Springfields Academy in Calne are helping orphaned children affected by the war in Syria by knitting woollen squares for blankets to keep them warm.
The squares will be sent to Jordan, where the academy has a partner school, as part of a project organised by a group called Love in Language of Yarn.
Here they will be made into blankets and sent to Turkey, where the refugee camps are.
Rachel Makepeace, international co-ordinator at the academy, said about six pupils knitted squares.
She said: “It does feel close to the heart because we have a partner school out there and our children have been learning a lot about Jordan’s culture.”
She said the school is looking for sponsors to help send the squares to Jordan.
