Aldbourne Youth Council has voted to allocate half of the prize money from its Prince of Wales Award of Honour to provide activities at its national play day.
The decision on how to spend the £1,000, awarded as part of the accolade, which recognises sustainable improvements to rural areas, was made at the youth council meeting last Tuesday.
Activities planned for this year’s event include zorbing, sumo wrestling, pony rides, arts and crafts and football.
The council will also being setting up a sensory play area for toddlers on the day to make the event attarctive to all ages and attract more families.
The event will take place on August 6 between 11am-3pm at the Farm Lane recreation ground.
The other £500 will be saved for future fundraising event, which has yet to be decided.
