THE best of local produce will be on offer on Corsham High Street on Saturday, June 21, as the town’s annual food festival takes over the town centre.

Organised by the Transition Community Corsham group (Transcoco), it will see market stalls and shops celebrate traditional farming and the best flavours from around the world.

A host of speakers will give talks in the Town Hall while a range of workshops will hold demonstrations and hand out samples.

The festival will also see the launch of the ‘Corsham Tart’, made entirely of ingredients from in and around the town.

Organiser Eleanor Trueman said: “There are going to be artisan stalls, similar to farmers’ markets lining the High Street, and some of the High Street shops are joining in.

“You can also make pom- poms at All the Pretty Things and decorate cupcakes at The Cafe Corsham.

“We have also got craftwork things going on at Arnold House with artist Charlotte Murray, and a workshop at the Town Hall with Jess and Krysia from The Pound Arts centre about the Very Hungry Caterpillar for under-7s.”

Speakers include Jamie Feilden, founder of Jamie’s Farm in Box, which helps inner-city schoolchildren learn about food production, and nutritionist Clare Walsh, who has produced the Corsham Tart from local ingredients.

They will be joined by Graham Henry, agricultural editor and scriptwriter for Radio 4’s The Archers, who will discuss the importance of ‘real farming’.

Miss Trueman said: “It coincides with the Pound Arts festival, so as well as good fun foodie stuff there will be street entertainment, and lots of things happening. It should be a really good fun day to people to come along.”

Festivities run from 9am to 3pm – for details see www.facebook. com/Transcoco
