People living in Christian Malford picked up their paint brushes and gardening tools on June 8 to help at the village primary school.

The workforce included the Women’s Institute, Friends of Church, 1st Lyneham Young Explorers, the parish council, teachers, parents and pupils.

Everyone worked together to refurbish the raised beds in the school garden, fix and paint the fencing, re-landscape the pond and nature area and create a useable outdoor area under a shady tree.

Buildbase in Calne donated all the timber needed on the day. All other materials for the work were provided by Friends of Christian Malford School.

Phil Hines, parent and organiser of the community day, said: “Over 75 people came to the school on the day and we were able to make such a difference to the outdoor learning environment for the children in our community.”
