Two glass artists based in Wingfield are all fired up as they set off to Glastonbury Festival next week to teach and display the art form.

KT Yun and Helga Watkins-Baker have run The Glass Hub in Stowford near Wingfield since 2012 and will spend the first few days setting up their equipment at the festival.

They are bringing a mini melt (a small furnace) for people to try their hand at glassblowing and run workshops and night performances until June 29.

They will be based in the Green Crafts Field and be joined by a crew of 10 people, five of whom are glass blowers – including James Devereux and Katie Huskie of Devereux and Huskie in Hilperton.

Mrs Yun, 44, from Frome, has been teaching glass works for 17 years and attended the festival a few years ago with her previous business Glass Genie.

She said: “We have learned what you need and what you don’t need. We are bringing crowd barriers, a marquee in case it rains and straw bales.

“At night it is really atmospheric, which is when we will be doing our performances. The whole of Glastonbury turns into a night-time city. The atmosphere is really special.

“Last time I didn’t get to hear much music so I am looking forward to seeing Elbow and Ed Sheeran.”

Mrs Watkins-Baker, from Frome, who has been teaching glass works for 15 years, said: “It is exciting. We will be able to show them glass in a new context, in the middle of a field.”
