Trowbridge store owner Steve Wicks is expecting overnight queues for the summer sale opening of his Bath furniture store Silcox Sons and Wicks tomorrow.

Following the success of the New Year’s sale’s hour later opening time, the summer sale will also begin at 10am for the first time in the store’s 114-year-history, allowing more bargain hunter’s time to get to the store before opening.

Renowned for their bi-annual sales, the Kingsmead Square store regularly has customers camp overnight outside on sales days in a bid to get through the doors first to pick up a quality bargain.

Mr Wicks said: “We are always excited about our sales and the staff are just putting the finishing touches to the products and prices. This year we have seen a rise in British manufacturing and we’ve always tried to buy British and support manufacturing in this country.

Steve’s son and store partner, Charlie Wicks, of Melksham, added: “We are expecting the sale to be even bigger than last year.

“There is a real positive growth within the housing market and this means we have seen a real impact on our business as more and more people have looked to furnish their new homes.”
