Langley Burrell’s annual village fete takes place on Saturday to raise money for the village hall and St Peter’s Church.
The event is held in the village hall from noon to 3.30pm with a dog show, bands, barbecue, bouncy castle, hoopla, bric-a-brac and book stalls, a 1914 display, classic vehicles and the Sahara Sisters belly dancers.
Top prizes for the grand draw are £100 and a Fortnum and Mason hamper.
Charles Fremantle, chairman of Langley Burrell Village Hall Trustees, said: “We spent £16,000 last year to replace our leaking roof, and have now spent a further £8,000 for the ceiling and insulation inside the main hall.
“The work took two weeks with a consequent loss of bookings and a further reduction in our reserves.
"The storage shed, floor, and bar need work done, so all money raised at the fete will be well-spent in keeping village facilities in a healthy state.”
A fete helpers’ supper is held in January for everyone who has contributed.
Entry is cars £1 and pedestrians 20p, children free.
