Pupils from St Dunstan’s School in Calne donned high-visibility vests for a walk round town as they asked drivers to think about speed in built-up areas and near schools.
The youngsters, from reception and the special educational needs programme, took part in the walk as part of a national road safety effort.
They carried signs encouraging drivers to travel at 20 miles an hour as part of the campaign, organised by road safety charity Break.
Calne PCSO Mark Cook joined pupils and teachers on the walk and gave a talk on the importance of being safe near the road.
He said: “It was good to see the drivers we encountered on our walk taking heed of the children’s signs.”
Teacher Abi Howell said: “It was great to see the children enjoying themselves, but picking up on the serious message being put across.”
Bright vests were donated by Specsavers in Chippenham.
