Jailed: Trowbridge dealer who had heroin and crack cocaine worth thousands of pounds
A drug dealer caught with thousands of pounds worth of heroin and crack cocaine has been jailed for three years.
Kaseem Smiri, 22, had hundreds of wraps of drugs when he was first arrested in Trowbridge last summer. And, while on bail, Smiri was caught with more drugs.
Tessa Hingston, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court on Friday that police stopped a Vauxhall Astra in Frome Road, Trowbridge, at about 1am on Thursday, August 22.
As it pulled over several people ran off and when Smiri was caught by officers a rucksack he had been seen with was found nearby.
In it they found 61 wraps of heroin and 110 of crack cocaine which were worth about £2,320 as well as £300 cash.
"That quantity of wraps, 171, would indicate that person was a drug dealer in his own right. He must be an established dealer to have a client base for that quantity," said Ms Hingston.
His phone had a text message on it relating to the selling of drugs.
He was released on bail after denying any sort of dealing but was arrested again on Wednesday, April 2.
An officer spotted him with a bag in Wynsome Street, Southwick, which had a small amount of cannabis in it.
When he was taken to the police station he admitted he had nine wraps of crack and 36 of heroin, worth £540, in his underwear.
Smiri, of Hollis Way, Southwick, pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.
Nicola Hutchinson, defending, said her client, appearing by video link from Bristol Prison, got into selling drugs after his habit got out of hand and he owed money to dealers.
But when he was arrested for the first time and had stock taken from him by the police he was put under further pressure as his debt increased.
She said Smiri's parents, who went to Sweden to launch a business venture, were unaware of his problems until they recently returned.
After starting cannabis at 13 she said Smiri was using normal cocaine at 16 and crack and heroin by the time he was 18.
