On Saturday, June 14, the Tuesday Scouts section of 10th Chippenham Scouts took part in a fundraising event in Monkton Park, Chippenham.
Their aim was to support Winston’s Wish, a child bereavement charity, by ‘Climbing to Everest’.
They set up ramps with the intention for each Scout to travel over the ramps 25 times, collect a coloured elastic band, then do it again, as many times as possible.
As the five-foot distances added up, Scout leaders converted this into equivalent height of a house, Big Ben, The Shard, Eiffel Tower, Burg Khalifa, Ben Nevis, Mont Blanc and finally Mount Everest.
The Scouts were very determined and after about four and a half hours of hard work in the hot sun, they managed their target.
During the event, leaders and Scouts were collecting money from passing shoppers, raising £204.20.
