The boy who was found in a swimming pool and later died had been celebrating his third birthday.
Wiltshire Police were called shortly after 7pm on Wednesday, July 9, after at child was reported missing in Upavon.
Jack Rowe, of Upavon, who was born on July 9, 2011, was found shortly after 7.20pm in a swimming pool.
Emergency medical treatment was given at the scene but he was unresponsive.
Jack was flown to Southampton General Hospital by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance where he died in the early hours of yesterday.
Neighbours have said that it was feared that Jack might have fallen into the River Avon which flows through the village after his parents, Nigel and Olivia Rowe, raised the alarm.
Wiltshire Police confirmed Jack's identity today and said the force would work with Hampshire Constabulary and partner agencies to prepare a report for the coroner's office.
