A role play wedding organised by Collingbourne Ducis Primary School went down a storm with pupils who dressed up in their best clothes for the occasion.
Children aged six to seven, from Hedgehog Class, attended the wedding at St Andrew’s Church on Tuesday as part of the school’s RE curriculum.
The service, conducted by Rev Jo Reid, was organised to teach them about the promises people make and what it means to belong to someone.
The wedding party included Olivia Griffiths as the bride, the groom Harry Pettitt, best man Joe Gomes and bridesmaid Anna Stephenson.
After the service pupils enjoyed a reception at the school with a wedding cake.
Class teacher Jill Stevens said: “We had the whole class, parents and grandparents, and people from the community.
“Everyone had a role to play, even if you weren’t the bride or groom you were the mother of the bride or an aunt or uncle.
“For some of them it was their first experience of a wedding or a church wedding.”
