Sixth form students from Melksham Oak School said goodbye in style over the last week.

Two weeks ago the Year 11s of Melksham Oak Community School celebrated in style, with Year 13 following suit on Wednesday night at Bath’s Bailbrook House Hotel.

Ball gowns were flowing and tuxedos were finely-pressed as the students made their entries in style, to mark the end of their two-year A-level studies.

For many of the departing Year 13s the prom marked the end of seven years of secondary education in the town, with many of them among the final students of the former George Ward School, before moving to the new purpose-built Melksham Oak site in 2010.

They are now looking ahead to new challenges at university and the world of work.

Melksham Oak head of sixth form Catharine Quirk said: “The event was a red carpet evening with a three-course meal and DJ.

“The students and staff had a fantastic time. The students all have fantastic destinations that they are going on to and we wish them the very best success.”
