FAIRFORD Town will be the first team to get their hands on the FA Cup this season as the world famous trophy is heading for Cinder Lane.

The extra-preliminary round tie between the Hellenic League Division One West side and Knaphill, of the Combined Counties League Premier Division, on Saturday, August 15 will have the iconic trophy on show before the match.

Gareth Davies’ side will be facing a team that is making it’s first appearance in the FA Cup.

Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to have their picture taken before the game alongside one of the most famous pieces of silverware in world football.

Entry to the game will be £5 per person and include a photo opportunity.

Swindon Supermarine will continue their pre-season schedule this evening when they make the short journey to Wootton Bassett Town.

Dave Webb’s Southern League Division One South and West side will look to build on Saturday’s 2-0 success over Chippenham Town, courtesy of goals from Josh Morse and Dan Drewitt, as they prepare for the opening day of the season clash at Didcot Town.

Bassett, meanwhile, will be playing their second friendly of the summer after defeating landlords Cirencester Town last Tuesday.

The Hellenic League Premier Division side are also working towards the August 9 curtain-raiser against Binfield.
