FAMILIES are being invited to mark the end of the second Tour de Swindon with a Grand Finale cycling fun day at Coate Water.

The Tour de Swindon has seen a series of more than a dozen free cycling events put on by national charity Sustrans, Swindon Travel Choices and British Cycling SkyRides, to celebrate the Tour de France locally.

Coate Water Park will host the final event on Sunday, with a range of activities for all the family, including face painting, wild art, a chance to make your own pedal-powered fresh fruit smoothie, family orienteering, Bike Doctor checks and bicycle security marking. All activities are free.

Sustrans project co-ordinator Amy Martin said: “Cycling in Swindon is growing ever more popular, which is great to see.

“We’ve had more than 500 people take part in this year’s Tour de Swindon events so far, and are looking forward to more joining us.”

Festivities will be held near the café, close to the car park, from 11am. The day’s events will draw to a close at 2pm, with spot prizes being given for those who have taken part in Swindon Travel Choices Active Swindon Challenge, which started in May.
